Is it a sin to dye your hair?
like a tattoo or a piercing? since you alter your body which is your Temple?
Answer:
Psh, no it’s not a sin. Now in the Bible, it does mention not to wear jewelry (men only) like the Pharisees with piercings everywhere and tattoos all over their body (women shouldn’t either). I mean, one tattoo is fine if it’s reasonable, but don’t get carried away with it. I know girls like to have that “tramp stamp” and it only means one thing (not good)! Excessive or certain tattooing usually ties one into being a “low-life” which is why it’s not “good” to wear them. In the Bible it also says that men shouldn’t have long hair (back length) because it was disrespectful and made them look like a woman (which back then, was a sign of paganism…just think of the movie 300 @ Xerxes palace). You have to understand that back then, pagans were rampant and were ruining society with their immoral values and everything they stood for was unclean as well. Even to this day, society doesn’t look too highly upon people with many piercings, tattoos, and long hair (depending on the gender). Also, drugs are one thing the Bible doesn’t support, although it does say you can drink alcohol, but not to get drunk. So all in all, you can can dye your hair and it doesn’t really “ruin” your body, but keep in mind what you are standing for. If you’re dying it blue, purple, green or something like that, it wouldn’t be too presentable in a formal setting, so I wouldn’t do it. Stick to natural colors.
