Im 13 and going into 8th grade. I like emo makeup but he wants me to be subtle (browns, dark greens, etc.) so what should i wear? i mean, is there some kind of in between? !?!?!?! MINDY!!!!!!! IM A GIRL! THUS THE NAME MADISON! DUUUH!

Your dad probably wants you to be subtle because you’re already so pretty without makeup, but I completely understand wanting to show your own style. I’m a makeup artist, and when somebody wants a dramatic look, I line the top eyelid in thick, dark brown liner, then put dark brown shadow all across the top of the lid and in the corner of the eye. Be sure to use mascara (including on the bottom) so your eyelashes show! To make it look more emo, don’t use any blush, and use a light foundation or powder to cover freckles, etc. Also, if you have lightish eyebrows, trace over them with your eyeliner or with brow powder. Dot between your lower eyelashes with the eyeliner to get that cool Twiggy look from the 60′s (Google her if you don’t know who she is). Last, get a dark red lipstick. Don’t wear it in front of your dad, and he’ll barely notice your eyes. Most men associate makeup with lipstick. Plus, lipstick is the easiest to apply and wipe off anywhere! Best of luck, sweetheart!
