Ethical Clothing At London Fashion Week

As far as talk concerning creative exuberance is concerned, people do not forget to refer to London fashion week, since the city has constantly been gunning for some expanding labels, with the focus being on ethical clothing this time. The show organisers tend to initiate their events usually with exciting catwalks, however this time, planning to do something different, the show was started with the launch of Estethica, which involved highlighting of ethical clothing.

The idea of ethical clothing appears to be attaining more and more popularity with every passing day, and now even the government has started backing it. In this event, Defra also showed off its Scap or Sustainable clothing Action Plan.

This plan will outline commitments of some leading retail and manufacturing names in the fashion to make fashion more apt to the ecological requirement in its different cycles from manufacturing to designing. Some leading retailers and manufacturers are currently involved in the plan, and the same retailers and manufacturers have already aimed to cast a sustainable effect of casual fashion on the environment.

Currently under Estethica, the idea of bringing together ethical designers with similar views, and having them make clothing more ethical than before, is being planned. London fashion week is about to celebrate its 25th birthday this year, when there is a general global economic recession, and luxury and fashion clothing are not a priority for most buyers.

However, many designers, on a global basis, are now focusing on manufacturing clothing, utilising inexpensive, and environment friendly materials that can be attained without having a negative impact on the planet, and the surrounding environment in particular.

The founder of Estethica, Peter Ingwersen said at the event: “It is a need of time to promote ethical clothing, and it can be done only, if we make people believe that luxury, fashion, sexiness, corporate, social responsibility, and ethics can work together”.

The fact that most people do not pay attention to whether a kind of clothing is ethical or not, is true. However, this serious issue was not given significance before, but now things appear to be changing, and people are not as ignorant about this type of clothing. Leading retailers and manufacturers as well as many people have started paying more attention to it.

The fact is that most customers believe that they would have to compromise on luxury, sexiness or other desired things, if they prefer ethical clothing of other popular fashion clothing today. However, nowadays, numerous retailers, and designers have become aware of the importance of being ethical for the sake of their environment, and living beings, and coming up with ethical clothing at fashion shows and other events is becoming trendier.
