Fashion and Culture
What is the use of fashion? Fashion is the style of human behaviour, popular during usually short period of time. If during a certain period, people begin to put on bell-bottom trousers, wear spectacles with large, disc like glasses,or keep their hats tilted, they are doing so because it is the current craze.
Fashions originate in man’s age-old wish to look distinct and attractive. Naturally, they are more popular with women. It is said that the chameleon does not change its colour as quickly as a woman wears out a new fashion, but men too, can’t plead innocence.
Let us look at the popularity of fashion from another point of view. They are popular with the youth, because in young people the urge of showing themselves off is the strongest. Children are too small to be aware of it, while the aged are too old to pay any serious thought to it. The young, on the other hand, find life enjoyable and want to enjoy it more by adding to its colourfulness. They adopt all sorts of devices to look attractive.
Latest fashions are popular in big cities rather than small towns and villages. The reason is that most fashions are luxury. People of simple and poor backgrounds can’t afford to indulge in such luxuries. On the other hand, the rich, clever and advanced city-people can afford to follow fashion which have a glamour of their own.
Fashion can pertain to any aspect of human behaviour. But the most popular fashions are those in dress. Men’s trousers and shirts change in size and shape every six months. Women’s clothes change in design in every season or so. It is the west which is the home of fashion. In the east, although they have their own traditions and cultures, prefer to copy and follow the western fashion. Fashions reflect the character of a nation. Western fashions are a clear index of the western mode of thinking and feelings seen. Similarly fashions prevailing amongst various races or tribes gives a clear idea of their respective way of living.
Fashion creates a colourful variety in life and adds to the cultural wealth of a country.

Fashion Fever
Who doesn’t want to wear matching clothes and shoes with a perfect complimenting hair style? Who doesn’t want to look attractive? Almost everyone wants to move with the changing trends in fashion. Fashion fever is rising day by day. The day a new style is launched all of us become curious to buy it the next day.
Such is the fashion fever which makes the world go mad. A person who says that they do not follow fashion, tell them they are lying. No person will still wear those bellbottoms. Everybody these days wears low waist jeans this showcases that everyone follows the trend.
Every year fashion changes, sometimes it changes with a movie or a fashion show. As the fashion changes, our clothes collection also changes accordingly. In the past fashion was more about women clothing and not much preference was given to a man’s clothing range. But these days you will notice equal variety of clothing range for men as well. Fashion these days does not only mean trendy clothes, but it also comprise of a cool hairstyle, great shoes and attractive jewelry. A person who is very fashion conscious will always wear all these things after giving much thought about it.
A person who is very particular about what he/she wears always follows the latest trend of the industry. Since no two people can share a same taste thus fashion also varies according to a person’s taste. People who are ultra glamorous will never wear clothes that will look like a person who is more of a cool type. You will always notice some difference in the dressing sense of two people. Although the fashion trend followed by people is almost the same but the way they carry themselves makes them stand out of the crowd.
This is the reason why some people look entirely different and more attractive then rest of the people. If you observe them minutely, you will find them wearing what is in the trend but the way they accessorized it made them look totally different. On a general aspect, fashion is not a bad thing to follow. It’s an individual’s choice to follow a trend. Many a time’s extremely irritating trends hit the industry, in such cases it is better not to follow them and wear what you like. Fashion should be something which makes you feel comfortable. You should never wear such clothes which cannot provide you comfort.

If a particular dressing suits an individual, than he/ she should take care that the same format is not repeated over a period of time. At the initial stage it is very difficult to introduce a new fashion because one never knows how it will look. Nowadays, the rapid way to spread any fashion is through celebrity only. It is very important not to adapt the fashion that is used by a celebrity, the reason being that within one week it will be all over the places and there would be no difference between you and someone other.

Masako Oka – Helping to Coexist Environment and Fashion
When Masako Oka, a fashion graduate from Sugino Dress Maker Women’s College, arrived with her self- designed range of fashion appare lcashing on their eco-friendly nature, people around the fashion world got well confirmed that she was the next BIG THING on the fashion canvas.
With the basic aim to “promote the coexistence of fashion and environment”, she designs dresses which are made of eco-friendly fabrics. These fabrics can be made of corn, bamboo, soybeans etc.
Probably, the inspiration to jump onto the green fashion trend was inherited from the geographical conditions of her birthplace Nagano. As a matter of fact, everybody knows the eye-catching natural beauty of Nagano.
Masako Oka, a Japanese fashion designer, is a complete institution in herself. More clearly, she is not only a fashion designer as she is related to Nagano Fashion College, as a principal, also. Even she is a widely acclaimed color analyst. This adds something more to an already fashionably vibrant career of Masako Oka.
So far, almost for last thirteen years or more, she has organized a number of fashion shows which aim to assimilate the environment consciousness and fashion together. Even she has participated in many such fashion shows. Hence, whatever materials she has used in the making of her fashion products are recyclable in their nature.
For example, to make her eco-fashion movement’s emergence felt around the fashion world strongly, she organized certain fashion shows being called as “Co-existence of Environment and Fashion,” “Fashion for the Earth” etc. Needless to say, these were the first of their type in that part of the world.
In 2003, she introduced ECOMACO, a brand of her own promoting green and eco-friendly fashion. ECOMACO promises to provide products which are biodegradable and ensure the curbing of CO2. Moreover, she uses, most of the times, a type of specific thread made of fermented corn syrup.
It is always a bliss to wear these fashion apparel. Really, it is one the most wonderful collections for everyone, whether for a man or woman, a kid or a bride.

Getting in Cahoots With Men’s Fashion
Fashion is a very powerful thing – it can make or break a career. It can be used to deliver a message or express emotions. It usually gives people a sense of uniqueness that forms their character. For men, fashion could be just about everything that defines their identity, reflects their passion and justifies their behaviors. With this premise, you can actually judge a book by its cover. And getting to know a man could be as simple as looking at the length or color of his necktie.
So how do you interpret outfits and accessories to define a man’s personality? Start examining different fashion styles of men you know and see if you can find a common connection between their personalities and their fashion styles.
Basically, men’s fashion can be classified into three: conservative, edgy and commercial.
Conservative fashion style usually goes for the typical to traditional choice in outfits and very minimal accessories – just sticking to what are necessary. This style follows rules by the book. Suit in the office, jeans for country driving, shorts for walking, and all the rest that are more or less predictable.
Men who have this fashion style generally want to play things safe. Functionality is their priority more than style. They may have less confidence to try out anything beyond their comfort level. Or they may also be just plain contented with their everyday slacks that they would rather look monotonous than trying out something new and risk being a fashion disaster.
Another classification is what the fashion world would call “edgy”. Be it casual, rugged or formal, this style carries with it character and confidence. Experts say that it is not entirely from the material of a man’s suit or grandness of his accessories starting from cufflinks to men’s watch, that edginess is achieved. Most of the time, men’s get up appear to be edgy because of the way they carry themselves. Confidence and flexibility make that edgy look. Because of their being flexible, it also makes it easy for them to shift from one style to another without being over- or under-dressed. These men can amusingly convert their office attire to a very refreshing after work cocktails get up by simple twists with their ties, pants and shoes.
Men with the edgy style in fashion just have that wit to know what would work best for them. Their willingness to take risks in dressing up is backed up with their high fashion sense.
The last classification would be the “commercial”, bordering to overkill fashion sense and what the present day dictionary would define as “metrosexual”. When you see a man of this fashion style, it would be as if a men’s fashion magazine has come to life – all in one packaging. Most of the time, this goes for wet and tidy-never-untidy haircut, crumpled-free shirts, stiff collars, overly pointed shiny shoes, and all the eye-catching fashion elements one can think of.
These men are usually vain, brand conscious, self-conscious and love to be the center of attraction. When an edgy style is done in an exaggerated manner, the result is usually too commercial. They just have a different way of expressing themselves which most of the time could be taken as loud.
Though fashion styles could lead to several impressions, still, no one can say that these are 100% accurate. For there might also other factors affecting one’s fashion style that may not necessarily mean any of the things mentioned above. However, as it is given that physical appearance, in 99% of the time, really affects the way other people view you, better make it a point that more or less what you get to project outside is something that is really coming from within.

Every Woman’s And Designer’s High Fashion Fantasy
Haute couture is every woman’s and designer’s high fashion fantasy. Haute couture has to do with the most exquisite clothing created. In 1868, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture was created to enforce rules involving fabrics, numbers of employees, and numbers of designs for day and evening wear. By the mid-20th century, more than 100 haute couture houses competed earnestly for well-heeled clientele by following the stringent set of rules: sewing by hand, with employees who are French, in ateliers that are French, in France. They began somewhat unstylishly in the midst of a worldwide depression but ended as a dazzling and influential decade of haute couture.
Fashion
Fashion history is a rich area to explore. Fashion is a language which tells a story about the person who wears it. “Couture literally means “sewing,” but has come to indicate the business of designing, creating, and selling custom-made, high fashion women’s clothes. During fashion’s “golden age,” after World War II, some 15,000 women wore couture. Christian Lacroix embarked on a romantic journey through his fashion favorites, while jeans brought an attitude of rebellious practicality to Chanel’s winter couture.
For more than a century, couture has been emblematic of the triumph of costume and fashion. It represents the fusion of fashion. The modern entity that combines novelty and synergy with personal and social needs and costume the arts of dressmaking, tailoring, and crafts constituent to apparel and accessories. Founded in the crucible of modernism’s invention in the middle years of the nineteenth century in Paris, with the expanded patronage cultivated by the House of Worth, but still dependent upon the considerable support of Empress Eugénie, couture has long stood as the modern equilibrium between the garment as exquisite aggregate and the burgeoning notions of fashion as a system.
Collection
Each season, present a collection to the Paris press, comprising at least thirty-five runs with outfits for both daytime wear and evening wear. Every haute couture house also markets prêt-à-porter collections, which typically deliver a higher return on investment than their custom clothing. Many top designer fashion houses also use the word for some of their collections. Model garments from collections are sometimes out of the country being presented elsewhere. Some couture houses provide a video of the collection to serious purchasers. Socialites such as the Duchess of Windsor, Babe Paley, and Gloria Guiness would order whole collections at a time.
In the early years of the twentieth century, Paul Poiret took couture into an admittedly dangerous path of change, responding to Orientalist and social sirens, but even more to the beckoning of commerce and the use of the couture as a generating engine for fashion and fragrance broadly disseminated. This supposed fashion novelty was so successful in part because it knew acutely its history and reconvened the finest skills to the couture. It remains a discipline of ultimate imagination, unaccountable to cost, with the paradox of being the fashion most cognizant of its ideal clients.
