Fashion Clothing – What Fashion Designers Offer You

Types of Fashion Designs

Fashion designers usually depend upon textile designs to set their fashion collections as unique. These designs are the work of trained textile designers who design fabric weaves and prints for clothes and furnishings. There are essentially three categories of fashion design.

Haute couture: The high-fashion clothings, haute couture, is originally a French term meaning ‘high sewing’ but today it has come to represent high end fashion clothing which can cost anywhere between few thousands to few lacs of dollars. Created for specific clients with “made-to-measure” technique, they are usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with great attention to detail and finish, often made with time-consuming, hand-executed methods. What is important in them is look and fit. Cost of materials and the time to make them doesn’t matter- they can go to any extreme. In fact, Haute couture is a protected term which can only be officially used by companies that are the members of and meet certain well-defined standards set by the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. Many ready-to-wear, and even mass market labels, claim to manufacture haute couture but according to established standards, they do not.

Ready-to-wear: These garments are not made for individual customers, but then also, much attention is paid to select the proper fabrics and their cuts. To maintain exclusivity, only a small quantity of such garments are manufactured and as such they are comparatively expensive but not like haute couture. They are produced as ready-to-wear collections and presented during fashion weeks, usually twice in a year. These collections can be under fashion designers own labels or under label of any fashion company for whom designers have made it. They can include anything from day wear or evening wear for men, women, teenage, lingerie, sportswear, bridal wear to even accessories.

Mass market clothing: As the above two categories come in very high and high price ranges which can be afforded only by a small section of consumers, the fashion industry mostly depends on mass market sales. This market presents a very wide range of ready-to-wear clothes in large quantities and standard sizes. Most often, cheap material and simple machine production techniques are used but the designs represent creativity. This helps in producing affordable fashion for all. The designs are, however, adapted form the trends set by the famous names in fashion. As such, they hit the market after a season or two.

Hopefully, now you know what you can get in the fashion stores and how to differentiate among them. Happy shopping then!

Fashion Design Software

The fashion design industry has witnessed a tremendous growth over the years. The increasing demands of the fashion industry have made it imperative for fashion designers to turn to the latest technology. This accounts for the popularity of fashion design software.

Fashion design software is beneficial for designers as it guides them right from the stage of designing to production. The software has mechanized the whole process of designing, making patterns, cutting and production. There are software modules that assist designers to create initial designs faster and with more accuracy. The designers can use the existing designs to their advantage by following the steps given in the software module. The designers can initiate minor changes in the already existing designs. They can personalize them by adding features out of their own innovative ideas. These designs are then translated into ready-to-wear collections.

The pattern making software comes handy to the designers who create perfect fitting garments. They use the software to create accurate patterns such as the different types of cross-stitch patterns. Creation of patterns includes drafting, grading and making layouts. It also assists the designers in texture mapping. The guidelines in the various software modules make the whole process easy and convenient.

The software also meets the coloring needs. With the help of different modules the designers can create weaves with as many colors as they want, set the imported fabric image in new colors and then customize them.

There are illustrations that keep the designers abreast of the latest trends in the fashion industry. The software equips them with the tool to create images and render realistic designs, colors patterns and textures.

Fashion design is not limited to making designs and patterns but also includes the larger domain of production. In this sphere too, fashion design software are used extensively. It provides guidelines to manage production and market the production.

Fashion design software assist the designers in increasing their efficiency and productivity. This, in turn, helps them in creating an extensive market for their designs and meets the demands of the competitive fashion market.

Were Jeans Ever Supposed to Be Fashionable?

Jeans. Humble work pants that were hard wearing yet comfortable. When I was about ten, that’s exactly what my favourite jeans were, to me at least.

These days, being all grown up and all, I head to the shops in search of a pair of jeans and very quickly, any quaint notion of what I thought jeans were, is dispelled in an instant. Today, jeans have gone decidedly upmarket.

Yes, the humble jeans are still the staple garment of choice for anyone involved in labour or leisure, but somewhere during the last ten to fifteen years or so, the fashion world has taken our favourite garments and has given them a makeover. I never thought I’d see the day that Giorgio Armani or Hugo Boss would include among their anticipated collections, their own flavour of jeans.

So just what have these big names in fashion brought to the party? well for one thing they’ve brought us a new distinction in the fashion vocabulary: Fashion Jeans.

That’s not the only thing they’ve given us. Along with the new terminology, we now have a whole new range of prices to consider.

Now call me old fashioned, but I find it hard to justify forking out the kind of money that I’m more used to spending on a suit, on a single pair of fashion jeans. There are times when, try as I might, I just can’t for the life of me, see anything special about some leading designers jeans that could possibly justify the eye popping price tags. Is it the cut? Is it the material? (I thought they were all 100% cotton!).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure fashion jeans are very well made and I’m sure they’re up to the job, after all, no designer worth their salt would dare put their name to any garment that was below par. They do have their empires to consider. All I’m saying is that I would find it very hard to justify that kind of outlay.

Fortunately for the fashion industry, it doesn’t rely on my purchases to sustain itself. It relies on the ever changing trends of the fashion buying global population who seemingly have no qualms handing over the asking price for the latest fashion jeans or the latest fashions full stop.

If it’s jeans your after, then it’s only right that you’ll buy what you like. Whether that’s regular jeans (like mine) or fashion jeans, but more to the point, you’ll buy them where you like. The only tip I’d like to pass on is the place to buy them. In short it’s the Internet. Branded, unbranded, basic or high fashion, you just won’t find them cheaper or more plentiful that online.

The humble jeans, who’d have thought.

The Rich History of Fashion From Across The Globe

Regardless if you are a woman or a man, there is no doubt you try to look your best at any given time, and this is where the industry of fashion comes in. When you travel to a boutique or a mall, do you ever think to take into account fashion history?

A Glimpse of Fashion History around the World

In one form or another, fashion has been with us as long as there have been people. The history of fashion therefore actually began with early humans, who utilized things like animal skins and shells to adorn their bodies with them. During special occasions there were special garments that were worn, which is not that much unlike how humans dress today.

In regions such as Ancient Greece, the history of fashion really introduced the utilization of naturalism. For instance, if you were to look into the numerous ancient sculptures, there is little doubt you would take notice that a large amount of pride was taken in the human form, and that being what it was, fashion really meant wearing as little clothing as possible.

Fashion history as we understand it actually began to come into being during the Renaissance. At that period in history renaissance was a time of cultural and intellectual enlightenment, so it makes complete sense that the idea of fashion should evolve along with the period women and men alike took great pride in wearing decorative powdered wigs, a trend that would last into the early part of the 19th century.

A Walk Through The Centuries

As the 17th century came into being, so did the trends of fashion that both men and women continued to share in. For instance, buckled shoes, both decorative and plain, dependent upon economic privilege of the individual wearing them, started to become very popular.

Also, women and men began to adorn themselves with capes as a means of shielding themselves against the cold weather. Additionally, women and men both started wearing the hats that are nowadays commonly thought of as “Pilgrim Hats”. The primary difference being that women had a tendency to choose to wear feathers in their hats more often than men did.

Moving forward into the 18th century, it was a period of men wearing an outfit that in most instances was comprised of buckled shoes, stockings, waistcoat, a shirt, and outer coat. They all started wearing three cornered hats. The women had a greater tendency to wear basic dresses, and their hair was often partly hidden by a white cap.

As the 19th, 20th, and 21st century have demonstrated, fashion has a tendency of becoming history all the time, because as history has taught us trends are always evolving. Fashion history is most certainly vast topic that spans every culture and the entire world. So the next time you go to the mall for some other store for close shopping, take a moment to think about fashion history and how far fashion has come.

Fashion – An Everyday Phenomenon

In this day and age, fashion is irrevocably relevant. Fashion is part of the world culture – from the pair of jeans you are wearing to the ways and behavior you are portraying or living. All of these fall into the scope of fashion.

When we talk about fashion, usually what comes to mind is clothing. One is considered “unfashionable” if the garments you wear are too old-looking while being “fashionable” is getting onto the bandwagon of whatever the trend is as of the moment. These however change over time. Thus, fashion progresses.

Fashion is closely linked to Western habits of constantly changing styles in clothing. The change usually is in association to the current economic and/or social condition. In the past one can easily recognize someone who belongs to the upper class by the way they dress from someone who is a peasant. Fashion, at that time, made a clear distinction between the powerful and powerless.

Presently, fashion has become a worldwide phenomenon. Now there is a wide array of choice in terms of clothing and brands, thus, people have greater access to whatever the trend is now. Unlike before, when someone wants to have a new dress, she has to go to a dressmaker to have the dress tailored-fitted for her. Now, ready-to-wear clothes are very much available. However, ready-to-wear clothes in the past were not really made using mass production. This is to show exclusivity to whoever buys them. As time goes by, the fashion world is now dependent on the mass market. Hence, mass produced clothes are apparent. Fashion designers base their creation on the fashion trend-setters that have mass appeal so that their products are easily recognized and are marketable at the same time. The drawback with it, however, is that the designers tend to use lesser quality materials and cheap fabrics to save money and time.

The mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes, apart from them being less superior to the branded ones, are a hit especially to the middle class community. Since they cannot afford what their favorite artist is wearing, they have at least an alternative to dress up like them without spending that much. This is also one of the reasons why sales of ready-to-wear clothes skyrocketed when introduced in the later part of the twentieth century.

Now, however, fashion does not just talk about clothing anymore. Perfumes and accessories have become noticeable as well. Personalities on television set trends and sometimes make their own clothing or perfume lines. Some of the notable ones are Jennifer Lopez who is an actress and a singer. Socialite Paris Hilton also has released her own line of perfume. These have become a trend as well with other big personalities coming up with their own. If you are a fan and look up to these people, then you would most likely purchase what they offer.

Look around and see fashion exists and will exist. The way you are dressed right now is your fashion. Much like the changing times, you will also change the way you dress in about a couple of month’s time, even a year from now. That just goes to show how fast the world evolves and at the same time how fast fashion progresses and changes. Fashion, indeed, has evolved. At the beginning of time, fashion was already around. Needless to say, it will remain with us forever.
