Those who aren’t into following fashion trends and wearing the latest styles can’t really understand what it’s like to watch the fluid way fashion will change as it descends down from the couture runways and into the stores and closets of regular people. While some designers claim that they take their inspiration from a certain culture, types of fabrics or from pieces of art, the truth is that most of the fashion that is popular today is taken right from the venues and stages of the music scene. Rockers and singers have always been interested in the latest fashions, and their choices are what help to form the genre of music fashion.

If you’ve never heard of music fashion before, you should know that it doesn’t necessarily mean copying the fashions of those that create the music, although in some cases this can be true. The more popular definition of music fashion can be seen in the cross over between musicians and fashion designers. Many musicians consider themselves artists in general, and many are creative in other ways that don’t involve a microphone or an instrument. If a musician is looking for a new outlet for their creative juices, then they often turn to fashion.

Once a musician achieves a particular status of popularity, they might start to notice that the styles they wear up on stage are slowly making another appearance, on the streets and in the clubs. They might decide that people are hip to the styles that they like to wear and want more, so they will often begin to design and release their own clothes. This type of fashion is more commercialized, and can be seen in the crossover moves that were made by many rappers and hip hop artists.

Another type of music fashion is a little more organic and a little rawer, as it is simply the fashions that are worn by the people that love and live a certain style of music. Heavy metal music was one of the first to inspire music fashion, with its leather, silver and over the top biker-rocker looks.

Big hair and tattoos could also be considered a type of fashion that is associated with heavy metal music. Emo music, known for its depressing lyrics and whiny sound is another genre of music that has inspired music fashion. Emo music fashion is usually characterized by tight pants, long bangs and dark eye makeup.

If you have a teenager, chances are that you are already well aware of the way that they dress. Even teenagers that don’t think they are getting dressed up for school are getting dressed up more than most present day adults ever did.

It is something about schools in which the kids seek each other’s approval and high school fashion helps them do that. The Shoes

When you are a teenager, the shoes matter just as much if not more than the rest of the outfit. These days in fashion, the shoes are another important facet of the outfit that is similar to what is going on in high school. Okay, so designer shoes are not nearly the same as the Air Force Ones that kids are sporting in their high school fashion ensembles these days, but they are still important.

The Jeans

Battered jeans are all the rage these days; models in ripped up jeans are up and down the runways like wildfire. Many people think that this doesn’t matter, but it has more similarities to realistic fashion than people think.

The Shirt

The shirt is another important part of high school ensembles, but what type of shirt can change on a day to day basis. Polo shirts and certain types of tee shirts are the rage in high school and since there is a dress code they have to drastically tone down what is on the runway. Outside of high school, though there are many different styles going on with both males and females that are worth noticing. New spins on 70s and 80s clothing styles are great for shirts these days, and they are also great for high school fashion as well so long as things are kept rather subdued and appropriate for a learning environment.

High school fashion is an important part of the regular fashion industry these days. There are so many ideas that are inspired by what teenagers are putting together, and for good reason. Kids have some good ideas as to what looks great; perhaps even your child has that knack for fashion that you should look out for.

Let’s face facts here. When it comes to picking out the best clothes to wear, men are considered, and rightly so, to be less fashion-conscious of the two sexes. Now for the good news, that is starting to change with more fashion designers showing off all new designs and collections on their runways. It doesn’t hurt that men are beginning to realize that looking good doesn’t exactly hurt their chances with women or their careers either.

Unfortunately for some guys, fashion is something that happens to other people. Expecting a guy who less than marginable fashion sense to know why a Hawaiian shirt is the best thing to wear to a job interview or a high school reunion is likely to end in disappointment and probably a few more than embarrassing looks and stares.

So, for the benefit of bad dressing guys reading this, here are a few of the most basic of mistakes guys make when entering the frightening sphere of fashion.

• Sandals with socks – Stay away from this fashion no-no at all costs. It is an all together fashion mess. No women will find you attractive. You’ll begin to notice that your friends call you less and less and strangers won’t even want to stand near you with this foot fashion faux paus. If your love for sandals is this strong then move somewhere warm that you can wear sandals year round.
• Novelty Ties, shirts, or boxers – This is another fashion mess that men just don’t seem to notice or maybe not care. Why would you sacrifice your dignity for the sake of making someone laugh from a “funny t-shirt”? It isn’t worth it, in my opinion. I would much rather be known for being stylish and a good dresser than the guy who wears shirts with funny sayings on them. So with that, throw out all those clothes with smiley faces, hearts, reindeer, shamrocks, and animal prints and buy something nice.
• Shiny shirts and suits – Come on…for real? Unless you are going to be a backup dancer in a musical then there should be no reason why you should even own a shiny shirt or suit much less wear one out in public. I can think of about a hundred different fashion choices you could go to the club in than a glittery, shiny and REALLY tacky shirt. What’s wrong with a simple form fitting black t-shirt or black dress shirt? Pair it up with some nice jeans or trousers and you’ll have no problem being noticed in a good way.
• Ugly colors – You can look like Brad Pitt with the fashion sense of a George Clooney but if you’re wearing some ugly colored clothes no one will care who you look like. That great looking new suit you bought for you Christmas party this year may have been expensive but if it makes you look like one of the staff or something from the 70′s, then I’m sorry but you paid too much. The color of your clothes needs to compliment your best natural features like eye color, skin tone and body shape.
• Overly loose fitting clothes – Clothes that are really loose or baggy make you look sloppy and like a bum. Unless you rap or own your own hip hop label, which you probably don’t, then you need to stay away from this fashion mistake. Instead buy clothes that actually fit you. You’ve been working out so why not buy some clothes that show it off. Try experimenting mixing and matching certain cuts and styles until you comes across the perfect fit and look.
